Wow.. what a lot of time that took.. and I had "technical" difficulties with ABC pod casts, but got some of the library ones. I can see the use for some library members, especially youth, in presenting views; book clubs in allowing others who may not be actually at the meeting to hear and imput to the discussion; and in staff training, especially for refresher training or remote access. I can not see myself as using it at present.

answer boards

I have been looking at this and don't see myself as an answer board person. To all those entusiastic young things out their in library land, definitely a chance to make your intellectual mark! Certainly more interesting than myspace and facebook, but just as time wasting if you keep chasing after the items. Moving right along......

Friday 2nd May

Just moving along. now in week 7.. and time is getting away from me!
Will not have time today to actually delic.us but have enjoyed watching the video and checking some of the other libraries use of these.
I can see a great use for this when doing reference queries, but being in a small branch, we don't get lots of in depth questions. But now I know who does, I will be going to their ref pages fairly quickly.

Thursday (late shift again!)

And because it is raining, the library is not very busy, so I can do some of this. I am probably not going to get all the modules done, but will keep working at it. Having holidays certainly did not help, I forgot the lot. I am less of a technophobe since starting this, but still give the difficult stuff,(even mildly testing), to the other staff! Thank goodness they are computer literate!
I had to go and edit some of my earlier posts as half the sentence (and sense) was missing.
I must try and keep on with the touch typing lessons, it is certainly faster, and seems more accurate when others do it, ( perhaps cause they are watching the screen, not hunting and pecking). Back to the study.

Maundy Thursday

And I am so far behind in what I am doing. Now it is Easter and I will be on holidays for a few weeks. I hope to catch up when I get back. I did not finish the week with the Wikis so I really am behindhand.
I think I have forgotten all I knew about RSS feeds and so on/. May be later.

Wikis

I have tried rss feeds and all sorts of things I didn't know i "needed" now am giving Wikis a go..
I am only reading at the moment but it looks interesting. From reading some of the other blogs, librarians are now "wasting" a lot of time. I hope we will eventually be able to put this into practice, but am not sure how may of my patrons are using this technology. The teens are still Facebooking and gaming... what will they do if the library starts to charge for access. I am fairly sure we get some who come here so parents and others don't find out what they are doing.
Suppose I had better get back Wiki-ing.
The number and style of the exampples was great. And I found some Australian sites. Loved the pictures of Mosman (note - go back there and look longer). I am sharing heaps with other team members who are accessing different sites, we are now trying to analyse some to see how they are arranged. Who said a little knowledge is a dangerous thing", we may be guilty of that! This was one of the more interesting things to look at., and more easily understood, (not that I would EVER create one).

I have spent the last 40 minutes trying to do the photo thing and it is not working!
I will try again later, as I am getting frustrated. I think I need a kid to teach me, one on one.

It is getting a bit complicated, but I now have access on my staff computer, yeah!
But I am so behind hand now. I was hoping to upload a photo today, but the day has gone!
Better luck later. The days are whizzing by now, is it a sign of old age?

Back again, just tried changing colours on this. Still not too sure this whole elearning thing is a good idea for moi. We shall see. I think I need more time (uninterrupted time perhaps), before I get really into it.

Learning 2.0 Wednesday

I am not finding this easy. I have to wait for the computer to become available and then I am anxious that I might be taking too long on the computer. I think I might be a tad oldish for this stuff, I generally leave these things (programming the video, recharging the account for the mobile etc) to the kids.... I have had to come back to this and edit it, as it got too busy to keep using that computer... I am now on another one and have opened these accounts but will have fun remembering the pass words.. Every one has a different setting.. use 4 numbers, 5 letters, more than 7, no - no , no . rules and passwords and things to remember! But I did it!!!!
Now I just have to remember it when next I log on a to blog~!
